Sangdon Kim
Sangdon Kim
Sangdon Kim invites introspection and reflection on the realities of every day life and the secrets constantly lurking beneath the surface of even the most seemingly mundane. His works have served to entice, perplex, unsettle, and unravel the viewer before themselves, personifying the spirit of life in all things material to be interacted with and pondered. Through the use of sculpture, installation, photography, performance, and video, Kim explores the complex and ever-evolving cultural illusions and fluxes within South Korea and, with profound subtlety, the world at large.
Born in the capital city of Seoul, South Korea in 1973, Sangdon Kim studied architecture and Fine arts, earning a degree in Fine Arts as a Master Student from the Berlin University of the Arts in 2004. Kim has amassed an impressive array of awards and accolades for his provocative installations, notably, the 3rd Doosan Yonkang Artist Award, and continues to push societal boundaries in Seoul where he lives and works.
